Girl Airlifted After Being Hit by Motorist in Santa Clarita

 
SANTA CLARITA, CA (February 5, 2019) – A Monday afternoon pedestrian crash ended with a young girl being airlifted out of the scene at Golden Valley Road and Via Princessa.
 
Deputies responded to reports of a child being struck by a dark-colored Toyota sedan while walking on the sidewalk. The incident happened near Golden Oak Community School around 3 p.m.
 
The child was subsequently airlifted to Northridge Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Officials are working to determine what caused the driver to hop the curb and strike the girl before hitting a traffic pole. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be influences of the crash.
 
In neighborhoods, school zones, parking lots and intersections, we as drivers are advised to slow down and be leery of what lies ahead. These areas are known for pedestrian activity. Slow down in these areas and remember to yield to anyone who may be potentially crossing the street.
