Woman Killed in Santa Ana DUI Collision
SANTA ANA, CA (February 11, 2019) – A woman was killed Sunday morning in a wrong-way DUI crash on Warner Avenue near Oak Park.
The two-car incident happened around 5:30 a.m. The woman was driving a white Toyota van westbound on eastbound Warner Avenue when her vehicle struck an eastbound Toyota pickup truck.
The impact pinned both drivers in their respective vehicles. Both motorists were extricated from their cars by the Orange County Fire Authority and immediately brought to a nearby hospital.
The woman suffered major injuries and was brought into emergency surgery; yet despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the hospital. The 62-year old man driving the truck suffered moderate injuries.
Based on preliminary investigation, alcohol was identified as a factor in the crash. No other information was available.
