1 Dead in Plane Crash in San Gabriel Valley
SAN GABRIEL VALLEY, CA (February 7, 2019) – A pilot was killed in a small airplane crash Tuesday evening near Palm Springs International Airport and the 10 Freeway.
According to reports, the Cessna 172 just left San Gabriel Valley airport for North Las Vegas airport around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday but crashed around 6:15 p.m.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating what caused the plane to crash and kill the pilot who was the sole occupant of the single-engine plane.
According to Deputy Mike Vasquez, the FAA notified the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department that the pilot had not reached his destination and urged for help in the search for the plane. The plane was located in the early morning hours.
The pilot was not immediately identified but a follow-up investigation is underway.
