1 Dead After Plane Crashes Down in San Gabriel Valley
SAN GABRIEL VALLEY, CA (February 8, 2019) – A Tuesday evening plane crash near Palm Springs and the 10 Freeway left the pilot dead and investigators searching for the root cause.
According to Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer, the Cessna 172 just left San Gabriel Valley Airport and was headed toward North Las Vegas Airport around 5:30 p.m. when it crashed supposedly at 6:15 p.m.
Nearly 45 minutes later, the FAA notified the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department about the pilot not reaching his destination and urged for a search for the plane. By the next day, a search team located the wreckage of the single-engine plane that allegedly crashed 12 miles northwest of the Palm Springs International Airport.
The pilot who was said to be the sole occupant of the aircraft was killed. Authorities are investigating this crash further.
