Driver Dies in Solo-Car Wreck in San Diego County
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA (February 7, 2019) – A 31-year-old woman was killed Tuesday night in a rollover crash on the 8 Freeway near Live Oak Springs.
Multiple callers contacted dispatchers regarding an overturned vehicle near the Golden Acorn Casino, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Travis Garrow.
A Honda sedan was found around 11 p.m. on its side with a driver underneath it. Authorities believe the Honda careened off the north side of the roadway and overturned on an embankment. Officials believe the driver was not wearing her seatbelt properly and was partially ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The left lane of the freeway was shut down due to the investigation. Investigators are determining whether poor weather conditions played a role in a crash. Alcohol and drugs were not considered to be factors.
