Man Dies After Falling Off Bike, Hit by Car in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 13, 2019) – A 66-year-old man was killed Tuesday evening when he fell off his bicycle and was struck by a driver on Fairmount Avenue near Ridge View Drive.
According to San Diego Police Officer John Buttle, the fatal crash happened in the 1800 block of Fairmount Avenue around 6:45 p.m.
The 64-year-old bicyclist was pedaling southbound in the northbound lanes when he lost control and fell onto the ground. A 61-year-old woman driving northbound in a 2001 Toyota Camry did not see the man and ran over him.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and the Toyota driver stayed at the scene and was questioned by officers.
Intoxication was not said to be a contributing factor, but more on this crash is under investigation.
