Fatal Crash with Box Truck on Highway 18 in San Bernardino
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (April 25, 2019) – A woman was killed following a rear-end crash Thursday afternoon in San Bernardino.
The crash took place around 12:39 p.m. on Highway 18, just South of Upper Waterman Canyon Road.
According to evidence at the scene, a black Ford Ranger was traveling southbound on Highway 18 when for unknown reasons, it left the roadway and rear-ended a large box truck that was parked on the right shoulder of the highway.
The box truck suffered minor damage but the Ford Ranger suffered catastrophic damage.
Fire crews used the jaws of life to extricate the two occupants out of the Ford Ranger.
Paramedics took the female passenger of the Ford to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries. Her identity has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
The Ford driver was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center with major injuries.
The driver of the box truck was unharmed.
