Roxanne Spiekerman Hospitalized, Man Dead in Two-Vehicle Wreck on Highway 99 Near West Riego Road
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (December 18, 2018) – A 55-year-old Berry Creek man lost his life early Monday following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 99 near West Riego Road.
Around 12:14 a.m., a 2004 Chevy traveling southbound on Highway 99 drifted off the roadway under unknown circumstances. The 55-year-old Berry Creek man then struck a call box before traveling across the southbound lanes and into the northbound lanes of the highway. There, the right side of his vehicle was hit by a northbound 2015 Volkswagen, driven by 37-year-old Roxanne Spiekerman, of Oroville.
The man in the Chevy was pronounced dead at the scene and has yet to be positively identified. Spiekerman suffered moderate injuries and was rushed to UC Davis for further treatment.
