Rosa Castillo Dead in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Collision at East Colonia Road and North Marquita Street
OXNARD, CA (May 22, 2019) – A woman died following last Sunday’s hit-and-run pedestrian crash at East Colonia Road and North Marquita Street.
The incident took place around 8:45 p.m. on May 12. Rosa Cortes Castillo, 49, just attended an evening service at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and began crossing the street at the intersection.
However, things took a turn for the worse when an unidentified motorist struck her.
Arriving officers responded to the scene and found the Oxnard woman lying in the roadway. The vehicle, however, was nowhere in sight.
Following the crash, paramedics brought her to Ventura County Medical Center where she died shortly after.
The crash remains under investigation and detectives are seeking witnesses’ assistance in locating the driver’s whereabouts. Those with information are urged to call Senior Officer Paul Knapp at 805-385-7750.
