Romeo Mendez-Lopez Killed, Bonnie Zentner and Jesus Morales Involved in Multi-Car Crash on County Road 19 Near CR-92C
WOODLAND, CA (January 28, 2019) – One person was killed and three others were injured in a three-car accident along County Road 19 near CR-92C Friday morning.
Romeo Mendez-Lopez, of Richmond, was identified as the 40-year-old fatal victim in the three-car crash that happened around 6:50 a.m.
A preliminary investigation led California Highway Patrol officials to believe that a Honda, driven by an unidentified man, was heading westbound on County Road 19 behind a Chevrolet, driven by 40-year-old Jesus Morales.
The driver of the westbound Honda tried passing up the Chevrolet by crossing over the double yellow lines, but as it did, it collided with an eastbound Ford vehicle head-on, which caused the Ford to crash into the Chevrolet.
The driver and one passenger in the Honda suffered minor injuries and were brought to Kaiser Health Care in Vacaville.
Bonnie Zentner, the 57-year-old Esparto resident driving the Ford, suffered unknown injuries. Morales, of Clarksburg, was unharmed. It was unclear in which vehicle Mendez-Lopez was riding.
Officials have determined that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role, but a follow-up investigation is underway.
To the bereaved family and friends of Romeo Mendez-Lopez, we’d like to send our sincere thoughts and sympathies to you.
