Roberto Marmolejo, Sylvia Lopez-Martinez Injured in Vacaville Crash
Vacaville, CA (January 10, 2022) – On Monday, 43-year-old Dixon man, Roberto Marmolejo died, while 44-year-old Sylvia Lopez-Martinez of Fairfield, sustained injuries in a semi tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 80.
It was about 5 a.m. when the collision happened west of Alamo Drive.
Marmolejo was driving a Toyota Sienna on the freeway in an undetermined lane when he suddenly changed lanes to the left.
His vehicle collided with the right rear of the trailer towed by a Freightliner driven by 44-year-old Rigoberto Cerna of Fairfield. Then, their vehicle traveled off the freeway and overturned numerous times.
The impact of the crash threw Marmolejo and Lopez-Martinez from their vehicle.
Rescuers rushed Marmolejo to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center, where the officers pronounced him dead.
Rescuers also took Lopez-Martinez to the same hospital with major injuries.
On the other hand, Cerna did not suffer injuries from the collision.
Moreover, the authorities said that it is unknown if distracted driving, drugs, and/or alcohol intoxication is a factor in this crash.
