Injury in Stolen Car Crash on Alta Street
San Francisco, CA (April 29, 2022) – On Wednesday night, officers arrested Robert Sonza in a hit-and-run crash on Alta Street that injured an officer.
It was past 9:30 p.m. when the San Francisco police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the Grant Avenue and Green Street area.
When the authorities arrived, they found the stolen vehicle and attempted to stop Sonza but he drove away.
Later on, other officers located at Union Street and Montgomery Street noticed the suspect vehicle. They said it was exiting the dead end and it rammed a marked patrol vehicle.
Sonza continued driving on to Alta Street and rammed a second patrol car, injuring an officer.
Officers say Sonza fled on foot and police ran after him.
The authorities located Robert Sonza at Pacific Avenue and Beckett Street and arrested him.
Sonza faces 12 charges, most packed with multiple counts. Among the plethora of charges are possession of stolen property, assault, hit-and-run and reckless evading. They booked Robert Sonza to San Francisco County Jail.
