Robert Romero Jr., Saul Hernandez, Simron Sodhi, Jaswinder Kaur and Naranjan Kaur Seriously Injured in Two-Car Accident at South Minnewawa and East Lincoln Avenues
FRESNO, CA (July 18, 2019) – A DUI accident at South Minnewawa and East Lincoln avenues left five people injured Wednesday.
According to reports, 27-year-old Robert Romero Jr. and his 22-year-old passenger Saul R. Hernandez were traveling north on Minnewawa Avenue. As their 2015 Subaru approached a curve on the road where South Minnewawa Avenue meets East Lincoln Avenue, their Subaru crossed into the opposing lane of traffic.
There, the Subaru and a 2013 Honda collided head-on. As a result, the 17-year-old Honda driver—Simron Kaur Sodhi—and his passengers—53-year-old Jaswinder Kaur and 78-year-old Naranjan Kaur from Sanger—suffered major injuries.
In addition, Romero sustained moderate injuries while Hernandez suffered major injuries as a result of the impact.
Due to the severity of their injuries, paramedics brought all five victims to Community Regional Medical Center for further treatment. However, there has been no update on their current condition at this time.
Following their investigation, police also arrested Romero, of San Joaquin, on suspicion of DUI.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
