Avenue 9 Crash Kills Madera Man Robert Meza
Madera County, CA (May 11, 2022) – On Tuesday, 65-year-old Robert Meza of Madera sustained fatal injuries in a Highway 99 hit-and-run crash.
The fatal collision took place at about 11:35 a.m. on Avenue 9.
Officers say Meza was southbound on the highway off-ramp when a car pulled out in front.
Meza swerved to prevent hitting the car. Unfortunately, he lost control and was thrown off his motorcycle.
The paramedics airlifted him to Community Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Officers say Meza was wearing a helmet when the collision took place.
Meanwhile, the California Highway Patrol is looking for the involved driver who sped away after the accident. According to a witness, it was a white sedan.
Officers say the driver could face felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter charges.
