Robert Castillo Fatally Hit by Vehicles on Highway 1 Near Emeline Avenue
SANTA CRUZ, CA (November 28, 2018) – A 44-year-old man’s life was cut short Saturday morning after he was hit by two vehicles on Highway 1 near Emeline Avenue.
The incident happened around 4:38 a.m. when Robert Castillo, 44, of Watsonville was hit by a 2018 Toyota Corolla and a 2016 Ford F-250 while in the No. 3 lane, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Sam Courtney of the California Highway Patrol confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the wreck. The 27-year-old San Jose driver and 43-year-old driver from Santa Cruz were unharmed.
Following the crash, crews had to divert traffic at Morrissey Boulevard for three hours. The details and circumstances of this crash are under investigation.
