DUI Driver Slams into Eight Cars while Evading Police near Victor Avenue
REDDING, CA (April 19, 2019) – Authorities arrested 19-year-old Riley Sheamus Whalen following an alleged DUI crash near Victor Avenue.
According to the Redding Police Department, officers received reports of a hit-and-run in the area of Galaxy Way, at about 2:49 AM. Responding officers spotted the vehicle responsible for several crashes and attempted to stop the driver. However, the driver escaped and slammed into two more parked vehicles.
Then, the vehicle continued fleeing and eventually crashed into the rear fence of a home near Vega Street. With the vehicle disabled, officers attempted to arrest the driver, who “violently resisted” and fled on foot. After the struggle, authorities booked Whalen into Shasta County Jail on suspicion of DUI, eight counts of hit-and-run, resisting arrest, and felony evading.
