Rigoberto Guzman Dead, Andrew Walters Detained Following Hit-and-Run Bicycle Crash at Limonite Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard
JURUPA VALLEY, CA (April 24, 2019) – A bicyclist died following Saturday’s hit-and-run crash at Limonite Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard.
According to reports, officers arrested 26-year-old Andrew Scott Walters Sunday and booked him into the Robert Presley Jail on suspicion of hit-and-run causing death.
Authorities suspected him of hitting and killing Rigoberto Guzman around 11 p.m. Saturday. Witnesses found Guzman and immediately contacted 911. However, when paramedics reached the scene, they pronounced the victim dead.
Based on information and evidence, detectives arrived at the 9000 block of 56th Street near Van Buren Boulevard. There, officers arrested Walters, of Jurupa Valley, who later posted a $75,000 bond.
According to Sheriff’s Sgt. Raemie Wood, Guzman had been riding northbound on Van Buren Boulevard when Walters struck him.
However, a follow-up investigation of this crash is underway. Thus far, impairment has been ruled out.
