Ricardo Torres Dies in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident on West Anaheim Street Near Chestnut Avenue
LONG BEACH, CA (March 15, 2019) – A man died days after being hit by a hit-and-run driver on West Anaheim Street near Chestnut Avenue.
The incident happened around 6:26 p.m. on March 6. Ricardo Torres, of Long Beach, died on March 8 just a few days after the incident. A car described as a burgundy 2003-2009 Toyota Sienna reportedly struck Torres as he crossed Anaheim Street outside of a crosswalk. The accident occurred in the No. 2 lane of the westbound traffic lane.
Per reports, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene. As a result of the accident, crews found the pedestrian unresponsive and immediately rushed the 63-year-old to a hospital in critical condition.
As far as the driver’s whereabouts, police are asking the public to call Detective S. Fox of the Long Beach Police Department Collision Investigation Detail at 562- 570-7110.
