Rhodora Bachillar Dies in Pedestrian Collision on West Willow Street Near Golden Avenue
LONG BEACH, CA (January 7, 2019) – A 64-year-old Long Beach woman was fatally struck by an SUV while riding her bike on West Willow Street near Golden Avenue Thursday evening.
Officers were dispatched to the scene around 6 p.m. to find a woman lying on the northwest corner of the intersection. Rhodora Roldan Bachillar was transported to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
A 50-year-old man, a resident from Long Beach, was identified as the motorist behind the wheel of a 1993 Ford Explorer that was involved in the crash. Authorities believe the Ford was westbound on Willow Street approaching Golden Avenue as the light turned green. The motorist, however, struck the northbound bicyclist.
The driver remained at the scene and was not believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
