3 Teens Killed in Solo-Car Accident in Davis
DAVIS, CA (May 15, 2019) – Rene Garcia, Leticia Castaneda, and Samia Johnson died in a single-car accident on the 80 Freeway in Davis.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the Friday night 10:55 p.m. crash happened on the westbound side of the 80 Freeway near Olive Drive. a witness reported that a Chrysler sedan lost control while traveling in the fast lane at a high rate of speed, veered across the freeway and struck a tree.
A fourth person was ejected from the wreckage, according to the CHP. Police said he walked to the area of Fifth Street and Pole Line Road, where he approached a vehicle at a stop light and asked for help. The 18-year-old Sacramento resident was transported to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento with major injuries.
CHP noted that the driver and one of the deceased passengers were wearing their seatbelts. However, the other two did not have theirs on.
