Pedestrian Dies in Redmond Crash
REDMOND, WA (January 3, 2019) – A female pedestrian was fatally struck by a large van Friday evening in the 2600 block of 152nd Avenue Northeast near Northeast Turing Street.
Bystanders at the scene tried performing CPR until paramedics arrived and took over; however, despite these medical efforts, the woman who remains unidentified was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities were led to believe that the woman was in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a driver in a van who was attempting a left-hand turn from a driveway onto southbound 152nd Avenue Northeast.
The 35-year-old man operating the van was questioned by authorities and showed no signs of intoxication. Investigators, however, do believe inclement weather and low visibility might have played a role in the crash.
Authorities are working to identify the 60 or 70-year-old woman and notify her family.
