37-Year-Old Man Dies in Rear-End Collision on Northbound Highway 99 Near Merced Avenue
Bakersfield, CA (July 25, 2020)– The California Highway Patrol said a rear-end collision on northbound Highway 99 ended with one fatality on Tuesday night.
The fatal collision happened on July 21 on northbound Highway 99 near Merced Avenue at about 10:25 p.m.
CHP identified the fatal victim as a 37-year-old male from Santa Maria. According to CHP, the man was seen driving a 1998 Honda when a big rig rear-ended him.
As a result, the Honda caught fire and the man died at the scene. His name will be released once next-of-kin is notified.
Towing services were requested in the area due to the extent of the collision.
The investigation of the rear-end collision on northbound Highway 99 is still on-going.
