32-Year-Old Arvin Man Dies in DUI Rollover Crash at Herring and Wheeler Ridge Roads
ARVIN, CA (April 5, 2019) – A man from Arvin was killed following a DUI rollover crash Friday afternoon in Arvin.
The fatal crash happened around 4:20 p.m. on Herring Road, about a mile East of Wheeler Ridge Road.
CHP officials said a 31-year-old Gregorio Lopez Cruz was driving eastbound on Herring Road when his pickup truck left the roadway and overturned.
His passenger, a 32-year-old Raul Lopez Perez of Arvin, was ejected from the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
Cruz was taken to a hospital with major injuries.
Neither of them was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Authorities believe that alcohol may have played a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
