Quintin Howard Arrested in Moreno Valley Crash Near Heacock Street
Moreno Valley, CA (November 22, 2020) – On Friday, police arrested 26-year-old Quintin Howard after he struck a deputy in a police chase near Heacock Street.
The incident began at about 8:40 p.m. in the area of Lark Haven Drive and Goldfinch Street. The deputies tried to stop a vehicle that Mr. Howard drove while under the influence.
The driver did not stop. As a result, the police began a pursuit that ended when he stopped in front of an apartment complex near Heacock Street and Cottonwood Avenue.
“As deputies exited their patrol unit, the driver reversed and struck one of the deputies. Then a deputy-involved shooting occurred,” the release said.
Ultimately, Howard was hit by the gunfire.
Paramedics hospitalized both Howard and the deputy. Authorities did not have any update on their conditions.
Further, the deputy was placed on administrative leave per department policy. While a second person in the car was detained for questioning.
The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office is leading the criminal investigation. Also, the Sheriff’s Department will conduct an internal investigation to identify whether its use-of-force policy was followed.

Crash rates in California continue to increase, rather than decrease, despite the additional safety features on newer vehicle models. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), two out of three motorists will be involved in an injury accident during their life. Though we don’t want this to happen, it is still vital to know when to proceed if you or a family member is involved in a similar car accident.
