Poplar Street Hit-and-Run Collision Kills 83-Year-Old Oakland Man [Oakland, CA]

Oakland, CA (August 19, 2022) On Wednesday evening, an 83-year-old man from Oakland died in a hit-and-run collision on 14th Street and Poplar Street.

Oakland police say that the 2-vehicle crash happened after 6 p.m. one block from DeFremery Park in West Oakland.

Reports say that a westbound 2013 Audi Q5 broadsided an eastbound 1996 Saturn SL. The impact of the collision caused the Saturn to a fence on the northwest corner of the crossing.

Moreover, officials say that Oakland firefighters helped the 83-year-old driver but the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
