Pilot Dies in Fullerton Airplane Crash
FULLERTON, CA (April 19, 2019) – A pilot died in a small airplane crash Thursday night along West Commonwealth Avenue near Turner Avenue.
According to authorities, the pilot died in the fiery plane crash as the plane was headed toward Utah.
The twin-engine Beechcraft Duke just took off from the runway at Fullerton Municipal Airport when it crashed around 8 p.m.
According to fire officials, the twin-engine plane crashed when it was just 15 feet off the ground, traveling at speeds of only 80 mph.
Surveillance footage showed the plane catching on fire with its wings and tail incinerated.
It is unclear at this point what caused the crash, but an investigation is underway by the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board.
