Identity Released for Man killed in Multi-Car Crash at 580 and 680 Freeways
PLEASANTON, CA (August 7, 2019) – The Alameda County Coroner’s Office identified the man who died in a freeway crash last week as Phillip Begin, 46, of Los Angeles.
Begin died in a five-car crash happened on eastbound 580 Freeway near the connector ramp to 680 Freeway around 10:40 p.m. on August 7.
According to the California Highway Patrol, white Chevrolet Malibu was traveling east when it struck the rear of a big rig on the right shoulder. Three other vehicles then got involved.
Officers arrived and pronounced Begin dead at the scene.
The CHP did not report any other major injuries from the other vehicles involved.
