Phil Beattie Suffers Injuries Following 48th Street East Collision [Edgewood, WA]

Edgewood, WA (November 2, 2023) – Bicyclist Phil Beattie sustained serious injuries following a 48th Street collision Thursday afternoon.

The hit-and-run collision happened around 4 p.m. during his commute home from work, near 48th Street East.

“There was a little grouping of cars and then as the last one was going to pass me, I just got hit from behind. I felt them hit my hip and my arm,” Beattie stated.

As a result, Beattie’s bike went into the ditch and he went flying about 15 feet.

Beattie was left with a  2- or 3-inch crack while the driver drove off.

“The paramedic took one look and said ‘You could be in a coma or dead,”. Beattie said.

Beattie said the vehicle that struck him was a dark charcoal Volkswagen possibly a Tiguan.
