Major Gasoline Leak on Cottonwood Creek in Kern County CA
KERN COUNTY, CA (January 21, 2020) – Injuries were sustained when a Pepsi and Gasoline Semi-Truck collided on Cottonwood Creek early Tuesday morning.
For unknown reasons, a Gasoline Tanker Truck was sent down an embankment fully loaded with gasoline around 6:12 a.m. The identity of the driver has not been released.
Due to the extent of the dangerous leaking, CHP required a hard closure surrounding a 1,000 foot radius of the area. The estimated time of closure was between eight to twelve hours.
Responders stated that over 1,000 gallons of fuel spilled onto the roadway as a result of the collision.
In addition, minor injuries were reported as a result of the impact. However, the victims identities are currently unknown.
The events leading up to the crash are unclear at this time. More information will be released once available.
