Pedestrian Dies in Montecito Hit-and-Run Crash
MONTECITO, CA (March 25, 2019) – A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a pedestrian on Highway 101 near Olive Mill Road Saturday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a pedestrian died after being hit by the hit-and-run vehicle around 2 a.m.
In a CHP statement, officers reported the pedestrian lying within the No. 2 lane when an Infiniti vehicle struck the victim. Following the accident, the driver reportedly pulled over to check on the person but fled the scene shortly after.
Soon after, officers tracked down the vehicle in Ventura and apprehended the driver.
Crews had to shut down the southbound freeway lanes due to clean up and investigations. As of now, authorities are investigating the ultimate cause and seeking witnesses help to piece together the events.
