Person Dies After Being Struck by Caltrain near San Francisco Station
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (September 5, 2019) – A Caltrain struck and killed a person on the tracks near a San Francisco station, Thursday morning. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the transit agency, the incident happened between Tunnels 2 and 3 near the 22nd Street station, at about 6:32 AM. Due to unknown reasons, a person was on the tracks when the Caltrain hit him.
Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the train’s 75 passengers did not sustain injuries in the collision.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Investigators will release additional information once it becomes available.
