Man Dies in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Venice Boulevard in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (July 19, 2019) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Venice Boulevard, near Cadillac Avenue early Friday.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
A witness spotted a victim in the roadway, described as a homeless man in his 60s. She reportedly began life-saving efforts, but attempts grew unsuccessful because the victim who authorities determined to be 71 years old died at the scene as a result of the impact.
Unfortunately, the vehicle or driver involved in the presumed hit-and-run accident remains at large. However, investigators are seeking witnesses’ help and searching for any surveillance video that might have captured the crash.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
Authorities currently believe the driver struck the victim as he was walking southbound on Venice Boulevard near Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles.
