Pedestrian Dies, Brandon Lyle Lloyd Spharler Arrested after DUI Crash on Luther Road in Red Bluff

Red Bluff, CA (September 16, 2021) – Wednesday morning, a man died while a 51-year-old  Darrin Rasmussen, both from Red Bluff sustained injuries after being struck in a DUI crash on Luther Road.

Subsequently, police arrested the driver, a 37-year-old Brandon Lyle Lloyd Spharler, and charged with driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

The fatal crash happened at around 10:15 a.m. on September 15 near Airport Boulevard.

The CHP said  Spharler was driving west in a Chevy Silverado on Luther Road near Airport Boulevard. 

He then collided with two pedestrians, killing a 41-year-old Red Bluff man who suffered fatal injuries. The other pedestrian,  Rasmussen was transported to Mercy Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.

No other information is immediately available.

Spharler is currently booked into Tehama County Jail, with bail set at $150,000.
