Crash on Hopmonk Tavern Severely Injures Pedestrian, Kills Dog
Sonoma, CA (April 23, 2021) – A vehicle struck a pedestrian and killed a dog in a crash on Hopmonk Tavern on Saturday night.
The incident occurred on April 17 in front of Hopmonk Tavern on Broadway at about 9 p.m.
According to Sgt. Scott McKinnon, of the Sonoma police department, the vehicle left a nearby gas station before heading southbound of Broadway.
Then, the vehicle hit the pedestrian and her pet in the crosswalk near the center divider.
The pedestrian suffered serious injuries as a result. Emergency personnel transported the victim to the hospital for treatments. However, there has been no update regarding the victim’s current condition.
Furthermore, the impact of the collision killed the pedestrian’s dog.
Pedestrian Accidents in Sonoma
McKinnon said that the driver of the vehicle stopped and remained on the scene. He said that investigators do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision. However, the investigation remains ongoing.
Moreover, the Broadway and Andrieux Street intersection where the pedestrian crossed reportedly has a pedestrian-activated alert lighting. It is unclear if the pedestrian had activated those lights before the incident happened.
