Pedestrian Dies After Train Strikes Person in Encinitas
ENCINITAS, CA (May 21, 2019) – A train fatally struck and killed a pedestrian Saturday night near Hillcrest Drive and North Vulcan Avenue.
According to authorities, the 9 p.m. incident happened near the tracks. Per the North County Transit District, which operates Coaster trains, the Padres train stopped after the accident, delaying its scheduled leave from the Santa Fe Depot in downtown San Diego.
Passengers took buses north to the Poinsettia Station in Carlsbad to continue their journey to Oceanside.
The details regarding this fatal pedestrian accident are unclear, but the Sheriff’s Department is investigating this case further.
