Man Dies in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident
BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 5, 2019)—A pedestrian in a wheelchair died Tuesday night following a hit-and-run crash at Chester Avenue and 3rd Street.
Around 7:15 p.m., officers arrived at the 300 block of Chester Avenue to investigate. Police discovered that an adult male in a wheelchair tried crossing Chester Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk and had been hit.
The victim sustained major injuries and died shortly after.
The vehicle, however, described as a white full-size sports utility car, left the scene and its driver failed to render any type of assistance to the unidentified victim.
Details pertaining to the cause of the crash and whether alcohol, drugs or speed played a role will be investigated by officials.
