Paula Matos Dies After Being Hit by Car on Standiford Avenue Near Polaris Street

 
MODESTO, CA (February 12, 2019) – A 76-year-old woman was killed Monday morning when she was hit by a motorist on Standiford Avenue near Polaris Street.
 
Paula Matos was driving eastbound on Standiford Avenue when for unknown reasons she pulled her car over to the side of the road and exited her Chevrolet Malibu.
 
Around 9 a.m., a driver moved over to avoid hitting her but a second driver in a Nissan Rogue ended up striking her as she was standing next to her open front door.
 
Matos suffered fatal injuries and was identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office.
 
According to reports, parking is prohibited in that section of Standiford Avenue. A follow-up investigation continues as investigators determine the liabilities.
