Osmond Akbar Dies in Motorcycle Collision on Claremont Avenue Near 60th Street
OAKLAND, CA (April 22, 2019) – A 26-year-old man died in Thursday’s motorcycle accident on Claremont Avenue near 60th Street.
According to authorities, the crash occurred around 5:33 p.m. in the 6000 block of Claremont Avenue.
The coroner’s office identified Osmond Akbar, of Oakland, as the victim. In the investigation, authorities learned that Akbar’s 2008 Yamaha R6 motorcycle collided with a 2005 Honda Civic.
However, the circumstances of how the collision transpired were unavailable.
Paramedics rushed Akbar to a nearby hospital where he died from his severe injuries. Meanwhile, the 62-year-old Berkeley woman operating the Honda escaped harm yet cooperated with investigators at the scene.
Police haven’t determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, but more investigation is underway. Investigators are urging anyone with information to call them.
