1 Dead in Tucson Pedestrian Accident on East Benson Highway and Tournament Way

TUCSON, AZ (March 27, 2023) – Friday night, authorities arrested Oscar Torres after the East Benson Highway fatal pedestrian crash in Tucson.

The incident happened at about 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of East Benson Highway and Tournament Way.

According to the Tucson Police Department, one person succumbed to injuries at the scene.

Meanwhile, the involved vehicle fled the crash scene.

Then, officers managed to locate the suspect in a nearby neighborhood. They identified the suspect as 34-year-old Oscar Torres.

Moreover, the detectives confirmed that the pedestrian tried to cross Benson Highway from north to south. However, he was struck by a 2004 Dodge Ram traveling westbound.

According to officers, Torres had a suspended driver’s license. Thus, they charged Torres with Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Collision.

Moreover, Torres showed no sign of impairment.
