Driver Dies after Car Overturns on Highway 193 in Newcastle

 
NEWCASTLE, CA (December 23, 2019) – One person died following a rollover crash Monday night in Newcastle, the CHP said.
 
The crash happened around 6:31 p.m. on Highway 193 at Taylor Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Jeep Cherokee was traveling southbound on the highway when it lost control for unknown reasons. It then swerved into the northbound lanes and crashed into the sidewall.
 
The Jeep overturned and the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.
 
Paramedics took the driver to an area hospital, where the individual later died.
 
CHP units remained on the scene to investigate the crash and clear the roadway.
