PHOENIX, AZ (November 5, 2019) — A pair of officers suffered minor injuries during Saturday’s high-speed DUI crash near the 17 Freeway and West Bell Road.

According to police, the incident spawned from a traffic stop in the area around 11:30 p.m. The pair of officers were conducting the traffic stop when a female driver of another car failed to negotiate her speed. Subsequently, the woman rear-ended the police vehicle at a high rate of speed.

Both officers, as well as the woman, suffered minor injuries and required hospitalization.

Due to the impact, one vehicle overturned on its roof, reports noted.

Per officers, authorities cited the woman for DUI before releasing her.

Driving while impaired can bring about dangerous outcomes. If you’re under the influence, avoid getting behind the wheel, and rely on safer methods of transportation instead. Drinking and driving increases your chances of hitting someone. Because drugs and alcohol can blur our vision and compromise our judgment, driving is never encouraged.
