OAKLAND, CA – Pedestrian Hit, Killed by Hit-and-Run Drivers on 85th Avenue Near A Street

Man Dies in Hit-and-Run Oakland Pedestrian Collision

 
OAKLAND, CA (December 31, 2018) – A 72-year-old Oakland man was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash in the 1300 block of 85th Avenue near A Street Thursday evening.
 
The incident happened around 5:20 p.m. when the 72-year-old Oakland man was walking eastbound across 85th Avenue and was hit by a southbound pickup truck.
 
According to police, the driver kept driving. A few moments later, the gravely injured man lying in the roadway was hit again by a red SUV also heading southbound on 85th Avenue. That driver also failed to stop at the scene.
 
The victim was pronounced dead a short time later and police said it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
