Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Oakland
OAKLAND, CA (December 31, 2018) – A 65-year-old man perished Thursday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in the 8000 block of Mountain Boulevard near Keller Avenue.
According to news reports, the unidentified victim was standing near his parked vehicle when he lost his balance for unknown reasons and fell into the westbound lanes of Mountain Boulevard. The pedestrian was then struck by a 2006 Ford Explorer SUV heading westbound on Mountain Boulevard. The victim was brought to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver operating the SUV stayed at the scene and was questioned by authorities. Police are still trying to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
