Driver Suffering Medical Emergency Dies in Novato Crash on Highway 101
NOVATO, CA (April 20, 2019) – A man was killed in a car accident Saturday morning on Highway 101 in Novato, CHP officials said.
The fatal crash happened around 9:51 a.m. along the southbound lanes of Highway 101, just North of Ignacio Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving his red Dodge Challenger when he suffered some type of medical emergency. Then he drifted into the right shoulder guardrail and went across all southbound traffic lanes into the median.
Two other motorists who witnessed the crash stopped to assist. Paramedics arrived soon after and transported the man to the Kaiser Permanente San Rafael Medical Center, where he was declared dead.
The victim was the sole occupant of the car. His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
No additional information was provided at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
