Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Highway 54 South of 805 Freeway

NATIONAL CITY, CA (December 2, 2018) – A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle Sunday evening in National City, CHP officials said.

The fatal incident happened around 10:20 p.m. on westbound Highway 54, just South of 805 Freeway.

According to an initial dispatch by the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was struck by a white Ford Explorer. Emergency crews responded to the scene and provided life-saving aid to the victim.

Sadly, the unidentified pedestrian did not survive and was declared the dead.

The SUV sustained a broken headlight and was towed away for evidence.

All lanes on westbound Highway 54 at 805 Freeway were stopped for the on-scene investigation and clearing operation.
