Driver Dies in Napa Two-Vehicle Collision
NAPA, CA (January 22, 2019) – A 78-year-old woman lost her life Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in the 3100 block of Jefferson Street near Pueblo Avenue.
The 3:12 p.m. crash happened between Pueblo Avenue and Trancas Street. Officers responded to the scene to find the victim unresponsive and not breathing.
Bystanders were able to help the woman out from the vehicle before Napa fire and American Medical Response Ambulance crews took over with life-saving efforts. She was immediately brought to Queen of the Valley Medical Center where she died. Her identity has yet to be released once the next of kin has been notified.
According to Sgt. Scott Holliday, it was unclear whether the woman was suffering a medical problem at the time of the crash.
A preliminary investigation led authorities to believe that one of the vehicles, described as a gray SUV, was heading northbound on Jefferson Street and veered into oncoming traffic and struck a gray passenger car. Reports did not specify which car the fatal victim was operating.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were said to be contributing sources to the collision, but anyone with information is urged to contact Officer Mike Fullmore at 707-257-9223.
Our sincere thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
