Blake Kampfen Arrested in Deadly Street Race Crash near Dailey Avenue
SAN JOSE, CA (May 16, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed following a street race crash on Cahalan Avenue, late Thursday afternoon.
Authorities received calls about the collision around 5:50 p.m. Reports indicate that a Honda CBR motorcycle and a Nissan Altima had collided. Dispatchers arrived to the area near Dailey Avenue shortly after.
The motorcycle was driven by a 29-year-old male, however his name has not yet been released. He was allegedly heading south on Cahalan Avenue at a high rate of speed when he struck the Nissan.
Paramedics rushed the rider to a nearby hospital due to the extent of his condition. He eventually succumbed to his injuries later at the hospital.
Furthermore, the driver and a passenger inside the Nissan were also taken to a local hospital as a result of the impact.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased victim was racing with another rider in an MV Agusta. He was later identified as 30-year-old Blake Kampfen, of San Jose.
Moreover, police arrested Kampfen on suspicion of participating in a speed contest. Kampfen was later booked at the Santa Clara County jail, however, he was not still in custody on Friday.
Further investigation of this fatal incident is still currently underway.
