Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on 5 Freeway at Mossdale Road [LATHROP, CA]

Fatal Motorcycle Crash on 5 Freeway in Lathrop

 
LATHROP, CA (September 25, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed following a traffic collision Wednesday afternoon in Lathrop, CHP officials said.
 
The collision happened just after 2:00 p.m. on 5 Freeway at Mossdale Road, near the San Joaquin River.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on the freeway at an unknown speed when he rear-ended a vehicle. The impact ejected the rider from his bike and a passing box van hit him while lying on the roadway.
 
As a result, the rider sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
 
Three lanes of the freeway were closed until around 3:50 p.m. while officers cleared the site.
 
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and factors involved.
