Suspected DUI Crash on 15 Freeway Kills Motorcycle Rider in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 19, 2019) – A motorcyclist died in a suspected DUI crash on 15 Freeway in Fallbrook Monday early morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred in the northbound lanes south of Mission Road at about 4:30 a.m.
An investigation showed that the rider was operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound when a Hyundai Sonata sedan approached him from behind at a faster speed.
The Hyundai rear-ended the motorcycle, knocking the rider to the ground. The rider was subsequently run over by the Hyundai. He died at the scene.
After evaluating the 24-year-old man driving the Hyundai, officers arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence. They booked him into the Vista Detention Facility.
