Rider Dies in Shasta Lake Motorcycle Accident
SHASTA LAKE, CA (December 23, 2019)—A motorcyclist died in Saturday’s crash with an Amtrak train near Shasta Dam Boulevard and La Mesa Avenue.
According to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, the incident unfolded at approximately 4:30 p.m., south of Shasta Dam Boulevard and west of La Mesa Avenue.
When deputies and paramedics arrived at the scene, they performed life-saving efforts on the motorcyclist, who died shortly after.
Crews suspended the train service until 6:15 p.m. due to investigations.
According to reports, none of the 232 passengers on board Amtrak Coast Starlight Train 11 suffered any injuries; however, the crash remains under investigation as officials look into the possible causes that drove this accident.
As far as the victim’s identity, authorities will release it once his family has been notified.
